6.   Yourself (also done by everyone!)

The Nakita Story https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=2725205616417460756#editor/target=post;postID=212158482152140819;onPublishedMenu=allposts;onClosedMenu=allposts;postNum=1;src=link

Every one has a tail to tell. The following story is mine. Each and every individual has his or her own strength. My strength is writing. I have been doing it all my life.
When I say all my life I mean since the fourth grade. It is in that grade I had arguably my favorite teacher of all time. Her name was Mrs. Zulick.
She had cat posters lined all across the walls of her classroom. She entered me in the Young Arthur’s contest then.
The contest was for students in the fifth grade and higher. He pulled some strings to get my entry in that contest. I am glad that she did, because I won it.
I definitely recall how obtained my current four legged roommate. I was Journalism Major at Eastern University. The colleges’ founding church named Central Baptist Church.

There was a loft style apartment next door to that college where Bible Studies were held. The residents of that apartment that had a four-legged roommate. She was a cat named Nikita.

C.H.I.P's

If you read form one of my other blogs, (I have three.) My sister and I “argued” what shows to watch as a child. She insisted on Little House on the Prairie and I preferred The Dukes of Hazzard.
They were on at the same time when we got home from school. The winner got to view his or her choice on our color television that was “huge” for it’s time (and our budget) and the other was forced to view their choice on a black and white television in our mother's bedroom.
We both hated going into or mother's’ room for multiple reasons. (That is not important to this story.) Paunch and John were the two coolest men on two wheels.

They were a pair of highway patrol men whom gave a whole new appeal to cop shows and motorcycles. Long before “Buddy Comedies” like the Lethal Weapon series. These two highway patrol men were the coolest officers on the block.

Blair Bodine III The Concert Trilogy

This time there was four of them. They sat side by side boy girl, boy, girl a pretty young lady aside each older distinguished gentleman. They each performed their own distinguished songs. One (male) gave you a choice, one explained how confusing it is to have a last name for a first name and A first name for a last. One girl was a beautiful blond (Blair) the other an adorably cute brunette.

The brunette (Suzie) was in her young twenties she sounded far younger though. They were all introduced by one of the three performers at Blair's 2nd (more fun ) concert. Blair was introduced by Lizannne. Lizanne give each performer a shout and her (singing) voice was similar two the young girl at about half her age. Each singer had a voice that was majestic and wonderful. Skip spoke of the Phillies and Harry (both Potter and Kalas). The group sung of writing in airports and writing their song often. They performed songs written for weddings and spoke of growing up and playing in an otherwise all female band. (specifically his wife and her sisters) Two sung older songs two sung new ones. They often changed minds as they turn came to them and one changed they key as well.

The entire night started early at 7 pm instead of 7:30 or 8pm. The show was over by 9pm. I hugged Blair again for the 3rd time bought a $5 CD from Suzie and Skip gave me his DVD for free. (I gave it to a 7 year old. [His Birthday was the previous day.]) I got another Blair CD. (I'm keeping this one!) and walked or trotted home To the R5 station. I called my friends from my 'on the Go' Phone. I left a message for one friend named Adam and ran into another at the train station. They were the first men I told of the concert and met a few others for dinner in Wayne. I boasted to all of them about my favorite new singer and she is now on top of my list for 21st century new artists.

My Ashley Asics

I was a Journalism Major at a local college. I wrote about the women’s soccer team all because of one player. The name of my inspiration was Tess. This story is NOT about her. It is about one of her teammates. They may play the same position, but alas that is where the similarities end.
My inspiration was single and had brown hair. This story is about a player with red hair and she was in a committed relationship. It was Ashley’s senior year. She had been dating her boyfriend Dan since Freshman year. The pair of sneakers I where to this day nearly five year later were worn by Ashley often. I call them my Ashley Asics. I am on my third pair in five years. I was wearing my initail pair when I met Ashley’s father. When he met me on of the first things he noticed were the thus mentioned sneakers.
“I like your sneakers.” He said
“I call them my Ashley Asics.” He responded
“She does like them.”   I finished
It was then we discussed the thus mention duo from two points of view. His of course was that of a father to Ashley. To him Dan was his daughter college sweetheart. They dated the entire time they went to college together. (or at least most of it.)
I am sure he knew how much they loved each other. He would have to be blind and stupid not to. He also knew whom I was since I was the reporter of the team his daughter played on. When he first met me I talked about both Ashley and Dan. I spoke of both from more then a friend’s point of view rather then a reporter. My report’s aspect had a great influence of influence but I knew them better as friends of coarse. I told Ashley’s father.
“He treats her well.” You would be honored to have him as a son in law. The next time Dan saw he shook my hand and the couple is now married. I was not invited to their wedding. I did not expect to be either. date. I just expect to be remembered as a very important reason to why they are married. You never know they may name one of their kids after

Blair Bodine IV

Blair Bodine IV
 My Forth Concert Experience

The concert was free tonight and featured two wonderful artists. The first was Caitlin Canty She rocked the house with songs like Juicy Fruit and Two Hands. Her songs were unique and beautiful and she sung each one with gusto and she brought a spirit to the nearly full venue that was not there before.

She spoke of the rainy weather outside and her New York origins. She made jokes about her next concert appearance at The Naked Chocolate on October 23rd. I won’t be naked she quipped and made everybody laugh. She then performed a cover song and sung it as well as can be expected. She was awesome and brought a good feeling to the aforementioned rainy night outside.

Blair was next. She sung some songs from her self-entitled debut album and some new ones as well. Both old and new (songs) she was amazing and received applause with every song. Her parents were there and thanked me for coming out on such a miserable evening. I was glad to be there and receive such a warm welcome from all the Bodines present.

The concert ended and Blair introduced me to a few of her friends. Including her backup guitar performer who agreed to help her out on just two days notice. He was nice as was everybody there. It was a fun time in September and I enjoyed myself immensely.

Both artist pronounced their words clearly and sung slow enough for the audience to understand. It was a good night of entertainment and rhythm. I walked home to the train station and thought about the night’s experience all the way. It was a good time at the World Café Live and I enjoyed myself to the full.

What I learned at Eastern University

1. What the Under Armour symbol is.

2. Family is frustrating. (It is the only relationship you cannot get rid of.)

3. Wear multiple pairs of sneakers it has MANY benefits.

4. Emily is a VERY popular name.

5. There are other forms of love that ARE NOT romantic.

6. Grown adult ladies should be called women NOT girls!

7. Women are better listeners then men. (For the most part!)

8. Women talk and think about sex just as often then men. (At
times they are worse!)

9. Your grade does not necessarily reflect how much you learned in a class. (Aunt Marge)

10.The truth is EASIER! (Forget the moral or “Christian implications.)

11. Mentally active is better and more tiring than physically active.

What I Accomplished at Eastern University

My Time in the “Windy City” (From a guy’s perspective)

It was the early 90’s. I graduated from high school in California in 1992 and was pulled away from the sunny skies and fair atmosphere a week later. (IF THAT!)

My then stepfather got a new job and I was forced to move. No time for my high school graduation to set in or any chance to go to at least ONE graduation party. The economy was tough (even back then) and I was torn away with NO chance to argue.

As always however I try to look at the bright side of things! The sports teams were EXCELLENT in Chicago before  I was there. The Bears (an NFL football franchisee) went 15-1 losing only to the dolphins that are the only team to go undefeated in a season. (Alas that happened in 1972) a full year before I was even born.

Also during this time the NBA team did pretty darn good. Michael Jordon a former North Carolina Tar Heels came to town and help lead the Bulls to 6 NBA Champions ships. He (they) did it in an odd way too.

The first run was 3 championships in a row. The then took a sabbatical for two seasons and came back to win three more in a row to shock everybody whom followed basketball. As well a few who did not. (Guess who “retired” for a couple of seasons in the middle of the run.)

Let me tell you I was blown away by the fantastic sports teams in that time. I am even fond of a nickname given to a baseball player during those daze. He was known as the Big Hurt. Which of the two professional Baseball franchises did he play for? You will have to figure that one out for yourself.

Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Saphphire

In a word, valuable. That’s what precious means to me, as in worth it 100%. This film was worth it 100%. Yes, my friends and fellow readers I can stand the violence and profanity if the storyline come across so clear and precise. That was the case in this movie.

The acting was phenomenal. From start to finish every role was played magnificently. Gabourey Sibide was golden in her portrayal of the titular role. By golden I mean Oscar nominated on her big screen debut. She shone in the spotlight and deserved to be seated amongst the best like Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep on Oscar night.

This film shone as well. It put the spotlight on domestic violence and told that is does happen so very close to home. What also hits close to home is the heartstrings plucked during this 109 minutes epic film. It was poignant, tear jerking and heartbreaking all at the same time. You are put through a flood of emotions during the aforementioned 109 minutes.

This is one of those movies that will stick in your craw for a long time. It is not one easily forgot nor should it be. It is powerful and magnificent and deserves all the accolades it got. I will not forget it anytime soon and hopefully you wont either.

                                                                                                                                                                             Grade A+

Percy Jackson and The Olympians In The Lightning Thief

                                                                                                             By Rick Riordan
                                                                                                              A Book Report

My first thought when I started to read this book is how Harry Potter of you. Lets see a young boy, a multibook series, one is a wizard on is a god. He even calls himself a half-blood in the beginning. The comparison ends there. This book is creative, fun and imaginative. (not to say that Harry Potter is not) I even liked the audio book version read by Jesse Bernstein.

This book was a hot commodity at the library. I had to borrow it from Media and it was on hold when the due date came up. I listened to the last few chapters on CD.

The story moved well from start to finish all 25 chapters and 384 pages were easy to read and well thought out. The characters were original (except the Greek gods) and the concept new. This book was the most fun I had reading a book in a long time.

This is definitely a book you can read to the whole family. I would recommend it to anyone young or old. The series is off to a good start I just can’t wait to see the movie next month or read the next book in the series.

                                                                                                                                                                                                     Grade A

MSU vs. Tennessee

A trip to The Final Four was on the line. Tennessee had never been there before for MSU it was old hat they had been there 7 out of the last 12 times and was the only team still alive from last years Final Four. It was a nip tuck game with never more than a six-point lead held by either team. It was a game for the ages in a year of upsets and surprises any thing could happen.

The Volunteers started off strong with a 6-2 lead. They were at one point a perfect four for four from three-point territory. The Spartans ragged back however and tied tit up at 11. The teams traded threes and the battle raged on.

There were spurts of strength at different times. MSU went on 7-1 run at one point followed up shortly thereafter by a 7-0 run by the Volunteers to tie it up at 21. The entire game was close and amazing exciting for all at home and in the crowd.

Included in the crowd was MSU graduate Magic Johnson whom was in one of the most popular ever MSU games in 1979 where he faced of against Larry Bird for the first time. The air was electric and the seemingly mutual crowd cheered its heart out the entire game.

This was my first game ever as a MSU fan. I cheered, screemed and went a little horse in this exciting back and forth game. The winner was to face Butler in Indianapolis and a trip to the Final Four.

Despite holding a two point lead at half time and going on a 11 -2 run at some point in the second half the underdog Volunteers couldn’t muster up a win. Christina B. a long time Volunteers fan said she was proud of her team however because they had never gotten the far before in the finals.

It was a game for the ages and not one I will soon forget. I am personally happy to have watched such an amazing game. This is not one I will soon forget nor should I neither will any of the Spartan fans I know here in PA.

                                                                                                                                                                                                   Grade A+

The Coffeehouse Creature

It was a busy Sunday at the local coffee house. There were many customers that day. Many of them regulars a few of them first time visitors and even a few that were guests of the aforementioned. There were five employees on that day. The owner named Dennis whom only worked on weekends. Jack was the lone male hourly employee and he left a small amount of liquid in a tiny glass on top of the counter. Shelley asked him several times to throw it away, pour it down the sink or dispose of it somehow but he refused. “I ain’t touching that thing!” he replied. “It doesn’t look safe to me.” Now we all know he was joking and a few of the customers even got a chuckle out of it. They lacked the knowledge however of what lied ahead. The terror inside that 4-ounce container. Although it was only half full that woluld be enough. The longer it sat and brewed the worse it became. Little did the staff know what danger comes it small packages. If only Jack knew how much trouble a few ounces of “unknown liquid” could cause. If only he was aware of the countless hours of indescribable horror that lied ahead, I am sure he would have thrown the liquid away when he got the chance.

Nine lives and Five homes of a cat!

They say a cat has nine lives; I say it has nine homes as well. I know the title of the story say five but hey, deal with me here. I work a nine to five workday so deal with it. The best part of that day is coming home to somebody who loves you. Some people come home to a spouse, other come home to children and infants, yet others come home to a barking dog with a wagging tail. Those people are crazy! You must feed and clothe a child. One is required to talk and actually get a long with a spouse. (Crazy huh.) I am to lazy for that I like to just sit in my easy chair and pet my kitty. (She is usually sitting in it in the first place.) Within a few minutes he or she is purring away, licking my hand, and biting my chin! (Ouch) Very little responsibility is required to take care of a cat. As I said before I am a lazy bastard! I don’t want to work at home as well as in the office. I desire only to throw a ball of yarn, scratch him behind on his head, or brush her fur. Some times I play with their tail and clip their claws but what ever I do they are purring within a few minutes and content to sit in my lap as long as I don’t put them on the floor. I have had many feline friends over the course of my life. I have required them in many ways. My mother and sister found one at a flea sale. We later acquired one from a neighbor whom had a litter of them. We took two that time, and my latest acquisition was left on my front door step like a baby in a basket. There is no BAD way to adopt a young friend, just as long as you take good care of them through thick and thin. Some kitties cough up fur balls others meow all night, and some will scratch up any piece of furniture in your home. (Declaw the last type they cost money!)

Great Television Voices

As children we are told it is best to be “Seen and not heard”! As a result when a parents are busy paying the bills, washing the dog, or making the family dinner. We are sent to the living room to watch television. You see I am a child of the 80’s so I grew up watching shows like: Charlie’s Angel’s, The Dukes of Hazzard, and Knight Rider. The theme woven amongst these hour-long adventures was each of them had an “unseen” character. All of these hour-long adventures had a theme amongst them. No, I am not speaking of the music played at the beginning of each episode. I refer to the common thread woven amongst these hour-long dramas. That theme was fast cars and strong women, and where would our society be with out a voice of reason. All three of these TV shows had a “Voice of Reason” and each played an integral part of the plot, store line and over all feel to the story. In the following few pages or paragraphs we will explore each shows unseen character or “Voice of Reason”.

He just got officially married this weekend ad “Tweeted” his marriage to the world. Little Jeannie, Kiss the Bride, and Candle in the Wind. After four decades of hits He is still standing strong. Kidnapped for Christmas

Allow me to introduce myself. I am a forty-year- old bachelor who has never had control of his life. As a child I was raised by my mother and sister. My parents were divorced when I was very young. As a result I had a “Bossy Big Sis” whom told me what to do as long as I can remember. As I said in the opening paragraph I am 40. My sister is still in charge of my life and I don’t have the power to do anything about it. I am currently out of work and making money as a free lance writer. My sister knows this. As a result my plans for the upcoming Christmas holiday are to come see her in New York City and I am told I will enjoy it OR ELSE! I don’t mind being the “inferior sex” as I wrote before. I was raised by my mom and sis. I love them both very much. I just wish I had control over ANYTHING in my life without being bossed around by a female. Oh by the way I wrote an entire novel (on this very computer) about the Women’s Soccer Team I covered at a local Christian college. I finished at this college on top when THREE count them three ladies asked me out to the “Senior Ball”. I live in an apartment complex where crews full of beautiful women and one male) are a few feet away. These awesome powerful ladies more or less run the entire “small city like complex. You must understand my confusion…In the Christian world we worship the Father, Son, an d Holy Spirit. At least two of those are male by name or title. The 3rd is up for interpretation. I however go to a church where there is a head female pastor and this is the founding church of the college I described earlier. ` So I don’t really mind being “Kidnapped for Christmas” I just wish I had an ounce of control over my life. Alas I am not even married (yet). I have heard my MANY married men that they have no control over their lives either. So I had better just get used to it.

Batman: The Cobblepot Caber

This game is fairly addictive. I play it online from Digiseek. I have gotten as far as Stage 3 but can’t get further. I like the Penguin with an “electric whip” in his umbrella. He is a menace to society so rid the world of him ASAP. This game is a lot of fun and VERY addictive. I am betwwen jobs right now and play it EVERY DAY. < b>Grade A (for Addictive)

Stranger Conversation

Definition: (Term) This is the type of voice interaction or talking with a person in public you do not know from a can of paint. This does not include married couples or family members that live in the same house that simply do no speak to each other for various reasons. I know it is an overused cliché’ but opposites attract. For instance. Last night I spent the evening in a bar listening to recently wed young ladies speak of their new husbands. The reason I know they were recently married is the rocks on their perspective fingers were still glowing and looked as if they were placed there for the first time less than 48 hours ago. #1 The married one was speaking of her newly acquired husband, saying that NO ONE in his family speaks to him and I wanted to inject for several reasons. First off there is usually a reason why an entire group of people stops talking to a particular individual. Most of the time it has to do with the “less than spectacular” behavior of the person in question. I kept my moth shut in order no to get kicked out of the coffee house I was in at the time. I also did desire to spoil her “Honeymoon”. The above is just one example of my topic for the day. The others are much shorter stories that do not involve five paragraphs to tell. I remember one day … #2 It was a long time ago in a video arcade far far away. I was playing Super Mario Brothers in an arcade in California where I graduated high school. I was playing the game for the first time and had some “stranger” looking over my shoulder explaining to me how to play the game. At one point I won the Mushroom of Growth and the Star of Immunity and this man was telling me what each did. “The star will make you immune to ANYthing that happens to you!” he explained almost gleefully. A few seconds later I fell of a cliff and died. (at least Mario did.) “Except that!” the odd man joyfully pointed out. I felt worse than my ill-fated one inch tall animated charater. For Mario had three more lives and will not remember that moment years later. (Dead men have no memories!) I on the other hand I still have nightmares of that day over two decades later. Okay so I lied the second story took five paragraphs as well. You never know by the time I finish these tails of woe and glory I may have completed my SECOND completed novel. #2 There was another time when I was living in West Chester… I was at one of my local hang out’s a local bar names “The Green Clover” and I was discussing fianacess. This is a topic you usully don’t broach to strangers but alsas there is an exception to every rule. I was pointing out that I make money without working and I theraratically could “Quit my Job” and make ends meat. The man next to me jumped into the conversation and agreed with me. We both agreed life is boring without working and that is why we work. There are other benefits to not working as well we both said almost in unision like medical benefits and keeping out of troulble. Just remember the old saying. “Idol hands are the devil’s advocate. Ironically I am now in deep water for I have not worked in a few months and I now can not afford my much needed mediacation. That medication and the reason I can make money with out working are ironinallly linked. That however is another story. #3 This one is short I promie. I was in a bar in West Chester called The Balarney Stone. I sat next to a blonde. She said “I’m married. Incase that’s what your thinking.” My response was priceless. “I’m thirsty.” I repalied. In Case that is what you are thinking.
